Tiger Leap Origins

Launched on September 26, 2014, Tigerair Taiwan is the first and the only Taiwan-based low-cost carrier (LCC). Under the principle of "Safety First", Tigerair Taiwan adheres to the core brand spirit of "passionate, warm, and genuine". It epitomizes the cultural heritage of Taiwan and the vitality of the new generation. At present, Tigerair Taiwan flies to destinations including Japan, Korea, Macau, Thailand and the Philippines, and is the national carrier that flies to the most destinations in Japan and Korea.

Entering 2022, Tigerair Taiwan is welcoming its namesake "Year of the Tiger" in Taiwan! To mark this meaningful year, we have invited an important contemporary artist from Taiwan, Tong Yang-tze, to create a beautiful artwork for Tigerair Taiwan, “虎虎生風hu hu sheng feng(Tiger Leap)”, and paint it on the fuselage of aircraft number B-50015. This collaboration is not only the first time that Ms. Tong's artwork has been displayed on the fuselage , but the auspicious characters also embody Tigerair Taiwan’s self-expectations and ambitions for the future.

In the future, this first characters-painted aircraft in Asia can be spotted taking wing across the blue skies, carrying passengers from all over the world to their destinations.

Tong Yang-tze

A Renowned Contemporary Artist in Taiwan

Tong Yang-tze masterfully uses character lines in Chinese as an important creative element and specializes in creating massively-sized characters with majestic and free-spirited strokes. Tong’s character structure and layout are in a league of its own, and manifest a unique contemporary interpretation that has created a new style of character art. Her seminal works include "Taipei Station", the posters for the film "The Grandmaster" and the documentary "Beyond Beauty: Taiwan From Above". Furthermore, the Chinese characters of "Republic of China", "Entry" and "Exit" on the nation’s official immigration stamp were also created by Tong.
